Liberté Kids Club, located in Waterford, Mi, is a welcoming space dedicated to fostering children's growth through self-directed learning in a unique environment with no grades and no homework. Our space provides children with ample time to play, create, explore, move, and build friendships within a caring community.
At Liberté, children are trusted to play an active role in their own education. Rather than following a predetermined curriculum, they are free to pursue their interests, ask questions, build projects, solve problems, and develop meaningful relationships within a supportive community.
We believe children are naturally curious. When given time, freedom, and access to caring adults and peers, they develop the knowledge, skills, and character needed to lead fulfilling lives. Adults at Liberté serve as mentors, facilitators, and members of the community rather than directors of every activity.
At Liberté, we practice listening, cooperating, taking responsibility, resolving conflicts, and respecting the rights of others. Children at Liberté are encouraged to participate in decisions that affect community life while learning that freedom and responsibility always go hand in hand.
There are no grades, standardized tests, or required lessons. Instead, learning emerges through conversation, play, exploration, creative work, practical life experiences, and participation in a vibrant community. Every child's journey is unique because every child is unique.
We do not believe education is something that can be delivered to a child. We believe education is something children create through living meaningful lives alongside others.
